Trump well known in business circles for making lemonade out of lemons has decided to use the upcoming hurricane that is expected to hit Florida over the Labor Day weekend to raise money for his 2020 re-election campaign.
“If you have to evacuate, believe me Mar-A-Lago is the best place to do it,” said Trump at an invitation only press conference held at the White House last night. “This is a super-luxury resort and we’re going to eat a lot of shrimp and we’re going to take care of everyone.”
While the idea of the President using the approaching storm as a fundraising tool is unconventional it is not unexpected from the reality star turned President who used unorthodox fundraising efforts throughout his 2016 campaign.
Raffle tickets will be available to purchase at midnight on Friday August 30th at DonaldJTrump.com for $5000 each. Once one million tickets are sold Trump will personally draw 25 names. “Hopefully we get the one million before Dorian makes landfall,” said Trump. When asked if he should just let people into the resort without having to buy a raffle ticket and win Trump replied “how is that winning?”
