This summer has been a tough one for Ruth Bader Ginsburg after the 86 year old was diagnosed a second time with pancreatic cancer. On August 27th Ginsburg made her return to the public eye when she accepted an honorary law degree from the University at Buffalo School of Law.
But it wasn’t the bestowing of an unearned law degree that had people talking that summer morning it was the strange black gloves she wore that both surprised and shocked many in attendance.
Paula Barclay attended the early morning event and said she was not sure why the justice decided to cover her hands. “To be honest the gloves reminded me a little bit of Cruella Deville esque,” said Barclay.
Arthur Duncan another attendee also expressed concerns about what the gloves represented. “It just seemed like an odd choice. To wear gloves in the middle of summer. Who does that?” Duncan said. “That’s like something someone in the mafia would do,” he added.
Some are speculating that the Supreme Court Justice is wearing gloves to hide the fact that she is not who she appears to be as rumors of a body double replacing the ailing Supreme Court Justice swirl online. While others say it was simply a bold fashion choice by an octogenarian who has always played by her own rules. Either way we’re sure it won’t be the last time Ginsburg makes headlines.
