WASHINGTON, DC – The impeachment vote of President Donald J. Trump had an unexpected twist this afternoon when Democrat Representative Jim Acosta forgot that he was speaking to American citizens and a largely English speaking room on Wednesday when he started speaking in Spanish. An aide nearby who is both fluent in English and Spanish cleared up the confusion on the faces of many in the room by stating that he was simply putting in the lunch order for those who will be spending a long day today making their case for or against impeachment before the final vote.
While many of the democrats applauded Costa’s forethought in getting the lunch order in early there were many on both sides of the aisle who were upset at how the lawmaker handled things. “He didn’t even ask anyone what we wanted for lunch,” said one Republican Congressman. “Usually someone comes around with a sheet and you get to pick what you want to eat,” said Rep. Steny Hoyer. “As long as there’s pizza I don’t care who placed the order,” said Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. “I hope he didn’t order McDonald’s or Wendy’s,” quipped a freshman member of Congress in reference to Trumps affinity for the fast food fare.
Unfortunately it looks like fast food and pizza will not be on the lunch menu this afternoon as Rep. Acosta on orders from his doctor to get more omega-3’s in his diet opted for a sushi buffet served family style.
