NEW YORK, NY – What seemed like a good idea has turned ugly fast as Wayfair employees are holding a walkout to protest the companies sale of beds to immigrant detention centers. “We don’t think that children in cages should sleep on beds,” said Wayfair employee Sandra Diamond. “We don’t want people to think that they are being well taken care of and a bed definitely sends the wrong message.” And it looks like 547 Wayfair employees share Diamonds opinion and are determined to try and stop the beds from being delivered in what amounts to a two part plan that is confusingly reminiscent of the movie Red Dawn. “If the walkout doesn’t work then we are going to stop the trucks at the Texas border,” Eli Lipscomb, a Wayfair Walkout supporter said. “Kind of like guerilla warfare to intercept the furniture delivery. Plus we promised anyone who showed up they would get free pizza and beer.” Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) added fuel to the fire by praising the employees efforts to stand united for a cause and for having the courage to stop children from sleeping in beds. “Wayfair is not going to get away with selling beds to these detention centers,” said Ocasio-Cortez. The whole idea is ridiculous. Next you’re going to hear about Whole Foods selling organic food to them. When will it end? One has to wonder if Ocasio-Cortez and the Wayfair employees will sacrifice the comfort of a nice warm bed tonight and sleep on the floor as a show of solidarity to the children in detention centers who won’t be sleeping on beds tonight.
